Music Menu for December 4th

. . . is online now.

Psalm and any recordings coming soon to the password protected page.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I am very thankful to be involved at St. Michael and to have the privilege of working for Wayne and with Donna.

An informal message from Brenda: What happened to the music menu?!?

Ahh . . . very good question.  Here are the facts:

  • Wayne's computer has been sick and in the "computer hospital" (i.e. not in the music office) for over a week!
  • Donna's computer had a terrible virus until today, but now is feeling better, as much as computers can feel.
  • I had a (human) virus.

The results were that the music menu could not travel from Wayne's computer (which was entirely absent), to Donna's computer (which in addition to being on an ancient operating system had a virus and was not functioning), and then to my laptop (I was sick anyway) from whence it is usually launched into the great wide world of the internet.  There it is.  Our very own series of unfortunate events but not even unfortunate enough to be worthy of its own movie.

Now I am happy to report that Wayne's computer has come back into the fold with Windows 7 (rather than XP, hurrah!), Donna's computer is now well and moving at a normal pace for a computer of its vintage running XP, and I was able to receive and post at least the Psalm for you, in jpg and PDF form.  The MP3 will follow if available.

Thank you for bearing with us through this tough week.  We were doing our best and look forward to providing you with the menu and other resources again next week.   :)

In the meantime, and this is an unofficial message from Brenda, if anyone would like to donate two new fast computers to the Music Ministry to help Wayne and Donna, I know they would be well loved.  Even last year's model when you upgrade your computer would be terrific.  Wayne is still on a laptop that, well, is not terribly new (my polite version -- frankly, it looks like the laptop I used for my doctorate in the mid 1990s!).  Donna's computer is still on Windows XP and has rather antiquated hardware. Wayne and Donna could really use updated equipment.  They do not know that I am writing this, but if you felt inclined to help them out before I am (possibly) made to remove this audacious message, I know your donated computers would be put to excellent use.

Gratefully yours,

Brenda

Thank you to all who made it a wonderful celebration for our St Michael Feast Day celebration. It’s a lot easier when you are doing one celebration as opposed to five with five different groups. But all groups did well.

We have only four rehearsals until our Evening of Remembrance (Wednesday, November 2nd at 7pm). Please try and make as many rehearsals as you can. We will be doing parts of the Fauré Requiem.

NIGHT OF REMEMBRANCE”
ALL SOULS' DAY
Prayer Service
Wednesday, November 2, 2011 7:00 pm
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church
804 High House Road, Cary, NC
Music by St. Michael Music Ministry
Our annual All Souls' “Night of Remembrance” is a prayer service that allows families a moment to gather and lovingly remember family and friends who have died. A special "Book of Remembrance” is placed in the center aisle for you to write names of deceased family and friends.

The service gives you the opportunity to take an hour to remember, to grieve, to heal and to love. The music, songs and reflections are interwoven to create a memorable moment. This service is open to all, so pass this on to someone you know. We sincerely hope that your family and close friends will join us on Wednesday to share in this beautiful service.

Give yourselves a special gift of comfort and healing. Engraved crosses will be given out to family members who lost someone this past year.

** You may bring a single flower to be placed in the sanctuary during the service.
